My Good Habit

It's official! I am on day 71 of this photographic journey...hoping to reach day 365. According to the article I mentioned here, I am past the 66 day mark, which means I officially have a good habit. Hooray! I'm sure I have other good habits...they just elude me right now. :)

I am pretty confident I can make it to the end, even though it's still a looong way away. I have made it through good days, bad days, sick days, busy days, rainy days, holidays, etc... I have some personal goals to reach now before I get to the end of this journey...

I would still like to know more about the manual workings of my camera, and I would also like to learn to take better shots of people. I'm not really confident photographing people. I've even started to scrutinize casual shots of my kids. Poor kids. They went from running away and calling me the paparazzi, to just dramatically rolling their eyes at me now. They'll get used to it, right?

Birds are my current obsession. Hopefully, I'll be an expert when spring migration comes around. Oh spring, please hurry! I can't wait to see you through my lens.

I Heard a Bird Sing

I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December
A magical thing
And sweet to remember:
"We are nearer to Spring
Than we were in September,"
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December.

Dear Kelly-first off...I LOVE LOVE LOVE that bird pic! It is simply stunning and really should be in a magazine. I mean that. And congrats on staying with the photography project.
Now about the bucket or the star?? I would like the star (because it's pretty) but the bucket would win out...the memories and the energy of all those family gatherings...plus it's UNIQUE!! I mean who else would have one? And I LOVE that you live in a barn!! How amazing. Maybe we can see pics someday?
Sorry you all are having bad weather over there...the weather here is truly amazing. Yesterday mid morning Tara and I were outside at a Starbucks and birds were singing a foot away from us(You would of loved it!)and it's tee shirt weather. But ...call me crazy...I actually love seasons and snow and cold and snuggling and all that stuff (I am Canadian!!)
Also thanks so much Kelly for your camera recommendation...I am going to research it...your pics are stunning;it's a serious contender. Busy busy here...We have been looking at homes online all week and are going to see them in person all this weekend! And thanks for the creativity suggestions too...I LOVE nature hikes!! Wish you lived close by Kelly:) XXX

Fabulous picture... I've never been good at taking photos, I envy those that are! I'm also not so good with the good habit thing... 66 (71) days is a LONG time... Kudos!

Please please can I buy some of your photos? I LOVE the elusive cardinal. But I also bought a B&W photo of the back of a statue....

I think the star, I am not positive but I am pretty sure the Magi followed a star not a bucket. :)

Carolyn told me about your site. I am blown away, I have seen thousands & thousands of both fine art and commercial photographs throughout my career. I can say with all honesty these are some of the best shots I've ever came across. This is a gift you have, please pursue this visual media in whatever way you can. You are also a gifted writer...your thoughts are both interesting and insightful. Your sense of everyday things around you are beautiful and inspiring, I'm so impressed!! Carolyn told me your site was totally amazing! I agree! Keep it up...your future is in your talents!!
