Plot 33

In just four, very short hours, two overly excited girlies are going to descend upon our household, armed with bags and backpacks full of papers, binders, treasures, and what-nots.

One saying goodbye to third grade, the other saying goodbye to elementary school forever. I can barely talk about it.

I'm looking forward to saying goodbye to the daily grind for a little while, and I'm really, really, really looking forward to this...

Plot 33

I had a boss once, who proclaimed one day in a meeting, that he liked golfing about as much as he liked breathing, and I have to say...I'm pretty sure I feel that same way about gardening.

It's been a while since I've done either (breathing metaphorically, that is). Hmm...I think there's a lesson in there somewhere. I'm starting to realize that to feel alive, I actually have to make an effort to squeeze into my life the things that make me feel alive.

I won't get into my tale of woe, as to why I've been absent from the gardening scene for three and a half years or so, I'm just going to think of that tale as "clouds in my coffee".

I was giddy (yes, giddy), when I got the email the other day from the people who run the community gardens, giving me my plot assignment...my very own piece of the earth until October 31.

I can't wait for those two overly excited girlies to come home today, so we can get this summer party started. They are looking forward to planting our new garden too. They've already put in their order for cucumbers and pumpkins.

I'm just looking forward to having dirt under my fingernails again.

That is so cool, Kelly! Just this very day, I almost drove off the road as I was passing by our town's community garden. So many people were out there working their plots, and I was rubbernecking big time trying to see what all they were growing.
You will have a ball getting back your garden groove. Let me know how your cukes do.....I can't grow them to save my life.
