The End of the Cosmos

Remember when I told you about my garden?
Buying a community garden plot this Summer was probably the best $10 I've ever spent.
I didn't get to work at it as much as I would have liked to (gardens like their weedin' and waterin'), but let's just say, I got more out of the process than I did the product.
From my garden, I reaped exactly one zucchini, three yellow squash, some basil (I made pesto...yum), and lots of tomatoes.
This is what didn't make it...two cucumber plants, two bean plants (they lived we just didn't pick them), pumpkins, watermelon, cantaloupe, and peppers.
It was worth it.
I planted flowers in the garden, too (sunflowers, zinnias, and cosmos), because, you know, even though they're not food...they are food for the soul.
One of my shining moments was when a fellow gardener walked by and said, "Your flowers are beautiful." I felt like I was sharin' the love.
Anyway, I stopped at the garden last week to close up shop, and cut whatever flowers were left. I was hoping to dry them out, save the seeds, and share the love again next year.
I had big plans.
I bought little jars to put the seeds in, and label. Kind of like my version of canning, I guess. Food for the soul!
I had the flowers out on the back porch, and for a whole week I guarded that drying bundle with my life from curious, little hands.
A couple of days ago, when it was raining, Griffin threw the bundle out the back door into the yard. He's fast, that kid.
Anyway, it was the process, and it's not the end of the world...just the end of the Cosmos.
Do you save your flower seeds?
If so, what do you store them in?
Enquiring minds want to know.
