The Corn Fairy
The Corn Fairy came today! Aren't I lucky? There is an angel of a lady that lives down the lane from me. She called me up and said, "Kelly, I have produce. Drive your car down here and get some!" So I did.
Holy scarecrow, that's a lot of corn! She apparently received a windfall of things left over from the Farmer's Market today. I took the corn home, along with some other good stuff; eggplant, tomatoes, basil, and peppers, and divided it up amongst my neighbors. A couple of them weren't home, so I felt like the corn fairy myself leaving the bag at their door.
Now, what to do with all this corn...some corn chowder or corn salsa maybe? Does anyone have a good recipe they could share?
Quote of the day - Faeries, come take me out of this dull world, For I would ride with you upon the wind, Run on the top of the dishevelled tide, And dance upon the mountains like a flame. - William Butler Yeats

Upon reviewing your important post, it has led me to believe that you could have encountered a genuine eastern corn fairy. My intuition is telling me that despite the indirect nature of your situation, your presence may have yielded this very interaction. Although your post does not specify a location, I can suspect you are in the corn-rich territory. Contrary to popular belief, corn fairies and other corn specimens are often manipulators and tricksters. I suspect after your good fortune that you felt light and whimsical, almost fairy-like some might say. My studies have shown that although the fairy types are elusive by nature, they need a host to survive day-to-day life. It is no surprise to me that your fairy had a "surplus" at the "market" which I am confident never existed at all. I warn you, these creatures' encounters are not to be taken lightly, for there are stories that will never be told due to the powerful and manipulative motives of these pests.
